When’s the last time you went on an adventure?

We are referring to our NYC trip as a ‘grand adventure.’ Maybe that makes it sound less crazy. Before we even left, we called it that. We called it that because we didn’t know how it would turn out, and there were risks involved, and we were doing something none of us had ever done before.

It didn’t all go perfectly. Jam-packed into a pen with a few hundred tired, screaming Directioners, definitely had its low points. But it was all new…not the safe, same stuff I do every day. And it’s made me look at these days back home differently.

I’m now on the lookout for my next adventure. Don’t you think we’re designed for more than simply getting by and living quietly within the confines of our comfort zone?  Maybe that sounds grandiose and deep, but it’s not really. It’s not always going to be a journey to a massive city or doing something you’ve never done before. Sometimes it’s merely clicking the “comment” icon on someone’s Facebook status and sharing a thought. Sometimes it’s talking to the lady in the grocery line. Sometimes it’s deciding to continue with something even when it’s offered nothing but pain.

Writing this blog is an adventure, and maybe it will end poorly, but at least I can say I tried. I explored new territory. I stepped outside that comfort zone.

What do you think?

What will your next adventure be?
