“You is kind. You is smart. You is important.” ~ The Help
I just finished reading The Help, so I thought I should use a quote from the book for Thursday’s category!
Have you pointed out someone’s specialness to them lately? My love language is words of encouragement. I need a lot of those words to feel loved. I think most of us need to hear those words whether that’s our love language or not. We need to hear them until we can believe them for ourselves.
A friend of mine once told me that I would never be who God’s created me to be without having been loved by someone thoroughly. She said it’s in the confidence of love from another that we gain strength and hope and are able to become who we truly are.
I hope that you’re loved that way by someone. It’s taken me a long time to let that love into my life, to believe it was real.
If you haven’t heard it yet today, I can tell you with certainty that you are kind, you are smart, and you are special. And all those little things you don’t like about yourself, they are a part of the wonderfulness that is YOU. Maybe you don’t see it yet, but there is someone who loves you thoroughly.
Have you heard One Direction’s new single “Little Things.” Ed Sheeran really got something right when he wrote it. There’s a line at the end that I really like. “If I let you know I’m here for you, maybe you’ll love yourself like I love you.” And once you’ve been loved like that there’s no telling what you can be!

I resonate so much with this post! I thrive on words of encouragement and try to give them to others without sounding fake. I’m so excited you’re blogging- this post really touched me, and I enjoyed how you incorporated the quotes together so skillfully 🙂
Thanks Christine! This blogging thing is a little scary…yet another way for me to put my foot in my mouth. Of course, I do still have that handy delete feature! I’m THANKFUL for you!
I love you and I’m very excited about your new blog adventure! Great post and thank you for loving me thoroughly!
Thanks Lori! You are super encouraging. I’m soooo thankful for you.
You’re good enough, you’re smart enough, and doggone it, people like you.
Right back at you! Thanks!
