Prayer is a weird thing when you think about. You’re actually talking to the creator of the universe. That can be hard to believe. I mean why would he even want to hear what I have to say? And it sort of seems one way…me talking to him, but I don’t hear his voice, at least not audibly.
I’ve known people who’ve grown discouraged in their prayers. Either God doesn’t answer them, gives them a resounding “no”, or things seem to go from bad to worse. Some of them stopped praying and chalked it up as something they’d given a try, but that hadn’t really worked.
And then there were some whose petitions turned to questions. Life got worse, and all they got was silence, and so they waited. They waited for answers. They waited to hear what he had to say. They waited to see if the almighty, all-powerful God of the universe actually cared about them.
And he did.
